Overzicht

In this compelling, engrossing true story, Gerard tells us hitherto unknown facts about the many illegal resistance activities that took place out of Westermarkt 2 (Huize Labor). The backyard of Huize Labor was adjacent to the backyard of the Anne Frank House.

In 1941, when Gerard Kremer senior was appointed as caretaker of the office building at Westermarkt 2 in Amsterdam, around the corner from what we now know as the Secret Annex, he had no idea of the part he was going to play in the Second World War. Slowly but surely, he ends up in the resistance. When the Wehrmacht occupies part of the building, his activities become dangerous play. Gerard's subsequent decision to shelter Jewish people in hiding very nearly gets him killed.

Years later, Gerard Kremer junior and his wife Toos learned from the many conversations with his father and other witnesses that Ans van Dijk was the only suspect in the betrayal of the Frank family. After 75 years, Gerard junior has now revealed his father's and other witnesses' true story that has led to the unravelling of the betrayal.
