Return of the Liberators 1945-2015
OverzichtOn 2nd May 2015, 90 London Taxis collected 120 World War Two veterans, their families, carers and helpers. They rendesvoused at the port of Harwich in Essex to board the over night Stena Ferry to the Hook van Holland. The tour was to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Europe. The destination was to be the Dutch town of Oosterbeek, near Arnhem. The tour was organised by the Charity ‘The London Taxi Benevolent Association For War Disabled’ with the support of sponsors and the Dutch people.
This book is a photographic record of the veterans and the events they attended over the five days. The age of the veterans ranged from 89 to 97 years old.
For many this will be the last time they will visit these places, making this a unique record of their endeavours.
