Arnhem Doctor
This book is not intended to be an accurate, detailed history of the battle, for that can be found elsewhere, but an account, recalled as honestly as possible, of the personal experience of someone who was a very minor link in the chain of doctors privileged to give their services on that occasion. It has been compiled from notes and a narrative put together soon after, in 1945, and from old newspaper cuttings, photographs and, of course, from memory. I have tried to preserve the 'feel' of those momentous days and to avoid distorting my original impressions by adding corrections of hindsight.
